Is there a way to provide flexibility of housing, not only in choice of type but an ability to change types over time with demand?
Community housing, single level apartments and two storey apartments.
Community housing grouped in clusters of seven rooms sharing a small kitchen and indoor / outdoor living space and combined with private housing.
The building is conceived as a series of ‘stacked sites’ for occupation. The ‘stacked sites’ concept provides the flexibility to adapt / relocate/ renovate / refit / or remove different housing types on a site-by-site basis.
A rigid framework of minimised circulation and differentiated ‘allotments’ that emulate the structure of a street.
Bathrooms are located at the facade to facilitate natural ventilation and provide varied ways of screening the room from the outside. Glass-roofed showers cantilever beyond the building.
